Our marketing

ECU primarily markets corn and wheat, but also other crops in smaller quantities. The focus is on corn and wheat because these are the two main crops grown in the Rhine basin. The soil and climate are well-suited to these crops, allowing farmers to achieve a favorable yield-to-price ratio. Corn grows particularly well in the Rhine plain and consistently produces high yields, thanks in part to a significant proportion of irrigated corn. Furthermore, there is strong demand from local industries, making the market readily available.

Our quality

Since 1998, and at the unanimous request of our customers, the Rhine basin has organized itself to produce only non-GMO corn, thus meeting European consumer demand. This market drives supply and consequently allows us to build sustainable supply chains with manufacturers. To find the most profitable markets and ensure our members benefit from the best added value, the key word remains QUALITY.

Our quality system

The goal is to harmonize systems and produce a quality standard by standardizing procedures. Quality departments meet regularly to share information and improve storage processes, standardize expertise, and adapt these processes to existing infrastructure as much as possible. This standard must meet customer requirements, and this shared quality approach is based on product control: from the selection of non-GMO seeds to drying, storage, and grain preservation, as well as the implementation of a contaminant monitoring plan.
